I'm only slightly masochistic |
So this tumblr thing is all about randomly posting things that I like? Very well then, I shall... Those mostly include Andrew McMahon, Matthew Thiessen, David Cook and Doctor Who. |
Why don’t I do that more often? Aim & Ignite is pure and utter perfection. I don’t care how successful Some Nights is, nothing can top Aim & Ignite.
That is all.
I love fun. more every single day.
Currently playing these two albums on repeat.
Yes, I know Say Anything’s record is not out yet. It leaked, I found it accidentally (seriously, first search result when you Google the album) and decided to go ahead and preview it. It’s made of all shades of awesome and I shall buy it when it comes out (I promise. I know how much it’s important to Max).
Until then, enjoying both of these records so much.
Fun. Out On The Town
Tragic story: This song is made of awesome, but a glitch on iTunes (that transferred to my iPhone) makes my iPhone cut the end of this song every time without fail, right at the same spot.
Fix it, Apple.

I really like Fun.’s new album.
Except that they autotuned Stars.
jgaskldhfla. whyyy.
It would have been so much better without it.
Oh, and not a fan of Glee’s cover of We Are Young.
Because I know you were all wondering.
This. At first I wasn’t a fan of the production on “It Gets Better” and “One Foot” but it kinda of grew on me, and I don’t mind it so much anymore, and I kinda like “It Gets Better” now.
But Nate’s autotuned voice on Stars… still makes me cringe.

Generally, I really like this album. It’s honest and beautiful and it’s everything I love about fun. lyrically, and most songs are so beautiful (I mean, am I the only one who doesn’t look at the intro as an intro, but rather as a song in its own right? It’s THAT good).
But some songs’ production just ruin it for me. “Stars” is wonderful right up to the point where Nate’s voice changes to a distorted computerized voice all the way to the end. I don’t really understand the point to the change, and I don’t really like it.
Also, songs like “It Gets Better” and “One Foot” are amazing lyrically, but I have a hard time listening to them because they sound like production wise, they’re a bad attempt at sounding like a Hip Hop song.
I’m not going to say I wish this sounded like “Aim and Ignite” because I’m a strong believer in bands not needing to recreate any of their previous albums, no matter how good/successful they were, but I am going to say I wish they kept the same producer, or at least gone with a different producer. I know the guys are happy with their choice, but I’m not. I think production-wise, this album could’ve sounded so much better.
Maybe these songs as they are will grow on me. Probably. I wasn’t crazy on “We Are Young” when I first heard it, and now it’s one of my favorite songs. But right now, these songs are not instant favorites (while the rest of the songs on the album are), which makes me a little disappointed, to not have gotten this “oh my God this album is perfect!” experience on the first listen. I still think this is a great album. Don’t get me wrong.
That is all. Don’t hate me.
Carry On.
